Kriya Yoga, the sacred science

“Kriya Yoga will ultimately spread to all lands for harmonizing nations through human being’s personal uplifting by achieving perception of the Infinite God.” These are the words of Mahavatar Babaji, a mortal-immortal master of Kriya Yoga.

Kriya Yoga is a scientific approach to God-realization and is the ultimate way for the seekers of current times. People of all walks of life and of any faith or tradition can practice Kriya Yoga with its benefit. Person can, through dedicated Kriya Yoga practice and deep meditation, advance on the path to enlightenment and be able to identify herself/himself with consciousness.

Lahiri Mahasaya, a disciple of Babaji, taught, in reference to Kriya practice:

“The more one works, the greater the wages.” (The more one gives him-self to super-conscious meditation, the more benefits he will experience.)

There are many paths to Self-realization. A person may follow the path which best suits his individual temperament. Thus, one may be devotional by nature and find that worship and surrender is most suitable. Another may be active and goal-oriented, can offer all results to the God and achieve the ultimate goal. One may also take the intellectual approach, the path of calm discernment, to see  which is Real. A direct approach, suited to those who are intense on the path, is the way of meditation and inward contemplation. The Kriya Yoga approach offers a direct experience of Reality, as a result of success being enjoyed in the practice of specific meditation techniques.

Until the second half of the last century, Kriya Yoga methods were not shared with seekers unwilling to totally renounce the world in their quest for Self-realization. When Babaji initiated Lahiri Mahasaya, he told to freely initiate all who sincerely asks for help on the spiritual path. Even to one who is attending to domestic and social responsibilities can be a renunciate, if only he is not attached to the people, things, or actions and their effects. Thus, inner renunciation, as the result of spiritual unfoldment, is more important than physical renunciation without inner transcendence. Lahiri Mahasaya often said that Kriya Yoga was the most rapid approach to God-realization, in contrast to other paths which, while useful, result in less rapid progress. Many of his advanced disciples attained a high degree of realization; Lahiri Mahasaya said that many would experience final liberation to consciousness in this incarnation.
